SALISBURY - The management at The Daily Times in Salisbury, Maryland (a Gannett publication) sought a team of craftsmen who would enable them to totally renovate their Urbanite pressroom by acquiring and removing 17 Goss Urbanite units (pre-1000 series) and two folders (1000 series) from three separate locations. Pressline Services was the team that The Daily Times selected.
The (Salisbury) Daily Times is a morning daily based in Salisbury, Maryland. It has been a Gannett publication since 2000. The paper began publication in 1886 as The Wicomico News, a weekly. In 1923 it became a daily and changed its name to The Salisbury Times. It merged with a related publication, The Sunday Times, to become The Daily Times in 1967. It became a morning publication in 1989. In addition to the daily paper, special and seasonal publications and special inserts, The Daily Times is the flagship of the Delmarva Media Group, which publishes an assortment of associated regional weekly newspapers. The DMG serves a readership that covers Sussex County, Delaware; Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland and Northampton and Accomack counties in Virginia.
Pressline Services installed a reconditioned Urbanite press, which includes a Technotrans dampening system; CCI automated circumferential and sidelay adjustment; a Perretta P2500 ink fountain control system; addition of a Technotrans Auto-fill ink leveler system; installation of Rockwell drives, press control system and software; the addition of five levels of angle bar sections to enable 3-wide printing on Goss single-width Urbanite press; and during the extensive rebuild, the press was cutdown to accommodate 33” wide printing.
