...3Volution marks an Evolution in Printing

Pressline Services, Inc. has developed a press system utilizing a plate cylinder capable of printing three sheets in a single revolution. 3Volution or 3V will create a new modern compact sectional newspaper format with exciting new possibilities for publishers, advertisers and today's readership-all from your existing equipment. 3V is a three around printing system that creates cutoffs between 15.75" and 14.5" depending on current press cut-off, running in a straight only mode. (Optional dual cutoff retaining existing cutoff alongside 3V is available.) This system will work with single or double wide presses. Currently, Pressline has three patents pending for this technology.

By employing this new technology, pressrooms gain 50% in productivity and can extend press run deadlines to include the most news-breaking information. With a 50% productivity gain, a press running 50,000 papers per hour will now realize 75,000 papers per hour.

The 3V system may potentially eliminate entire presses reducing labor costs, equipment costs and service costs.

The raw newsprint savings at these cut-offs is up to 33 percent. When reducing a larger web width to 44", the saving will be an additional 4 to 12 percent.

The 3V process applied to existing presses creates a much more productive press with enhanced capabilities comparable to most recent new presses capable of handling larger runs. The efficiency of the current pressroom is extended markedly.
